President of Polish Football Association: The new national team coach in January

The President of the Polish Football Association Cezary Kulesza has announced the date when it will be known who will replace Paulo Sousa as Polish national team coach. “On January 19, at the first board meeting, we will know the name of the new coach,” the member assured on TVP Sport.

Kulesza did not want to comment on the new selector but admitted that in case of winning the promotion to next year’s World Cup he would lead the red-and-white team also during the final tournament in Qatar.

The names of several potential candidates have been floating around in the media. Among them are both Poles (Adam Nawałka, Marek Papszun) and foreign coaches (Dick Advocaat, Juergen Klinsmann and Avram Grant).

Sousa suddenly requested the termination of the contract binding him to the Polish Football Association, which Kulesza confirmed on Sunday. The coach decided to make such a step, although in March the red-whites will face two-stage play-offs for promotion. The Portuguese on Wednesday, shortly after officially parting ways with the Polish national team, was introduced as the coach of Flamengo Rio de Janeiro. As a result, a lot of criticism fell on him.
