Polish day in the Dakar Rally! Three white and red crews on the podium

On Tuesday’s stage of the Dakar Rally, the Polish crews competing in the class of light UTVs took the whole podium. Marek Goczał with Łukasz Łaskawiec won, his brother Michał with Szymon Gospodarczyk got the second position and Aron Domżała and Maciej Marton were third.

In the third stage of the Dakar Rally with the start and finish in Al Quaysumah, Goczał and Łaskawiec led from the beginning to the end of the special section. The second crew of the Cobant-Energylandia team was ahead by 2.50 and Domżała with Marton by 3.08.

All previous Dakar stages in the UTV class were won by the Poles. The prologue was won by Marek Goczał with Łaskawiec, on Sunday the fastest were Domżała with Marton, and on Monday Michał Goczał took his first victory.

Despite this string of successes, it is not the Poles who lead in the general classification. The leaders are American Austin Jones and Brazilian Gustavo Gugelmin, as the judges imposed a 15-minute penalty on Goczal and Gospodarczyk for missing a waypoint on Sunday’s stage 1B, which pushed them into fourth place overall.

The other two Polish crews suffered losses in earlier stages and as a result, Domżała and Marton are in sixth place and Marek Goczał and Łukasz Łaskawiec are seventh.
