The volleyball players of Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle defeated the Italian team Cucine Lube Civitanova 3:2. The defenders of the trophy reached the quarterfinals of the prestigious competitions with victory.
In the first meeting of these teams – in Gliwice – the Curls lost 2:3. The rivals of the Polish team in Group C were the Slovenian OK Merkur Maribor and the Russian Lokomotiw Nowosybirsk. The Azoty Group in the final table took second place behind Cucine Lube but moved up to the playoff round.
Already at the beginning of the first set, it became clear that due to the decisions in the other groups, the Kędzierzyn-Koźle would play in the next phase, regardless of the outcome of the match. But they didn’t want to lose it.
“Of course, other results could have helped us reach our goal, but we had nothing to lose. We have fought the promotion and are happy,” said the program Polsat Sport Kamil Semeniuk.
