Iga Świątek beats Kvitova for 15th straight win [VIDEO]

“I want to use the confidence that I built since the beginning of Doha,” Światek said after entering the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Miami. She won with Czech Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-3 for the 15th game in a row.

On February 16, 2022, Iga Świętek experienced for the last time the bitterness of defeat. This took place in the 1/8 final of the tournament in Dubai against the eventual winner Jelena Ostapienko of Latvia. Since then, the Polish has beaten 13 players (twice with the Swiss Viktorija Golubic and the Greek Maria Sakkari) and has not even left the field beaten.

In Miami, she has already knocked out four competitors, which is a great result – she did it without losing a set.

“I want to use the confidence that I built since the beginning of Doha,” Swiatek said. “I think I’m on a roll and I want to use that. Having that kind of streak got pretty tricky, but I’m pretty glad that I could play well, that I’m healthy, and that I can compete against players like Petra. She’s a legend.”

“Świątek joins Caroline Wozniacki, Victoria Azarenka, and Jelena Ostapenko as the only players to have made four or more WTA 1000 semifinals before their 21st birthdays. The Polish star, who is set to rise to World No.1 after Miami, will face 16th seed Jessica Pegula on Friday night for a spot in her third consecutive WTA 1000 final,” WTA informes.
