Robert Lewandowski is again on everyone’s lips. Spanish media confirm that FC Barcelona is seriously interested in the transfer of the Polish national team captain. The Spanish daily “Sport” reports that the club can pay up to 100 million euros for the Bayern Munich striker.
For months, even years, Lewandowski was linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. The Pole’s contract with Bayern expires in just over a year, and FC Barcelona has also made some bids.
“If the striker rejects the possibility of an extension with Bayern, then the process will be initiated for him to leave Germany on the best possible terms,” the daily wrote.
The newspaper speculates that due to the fact that Robert Lewandowski will be a footballer of quite advanced age next year, Bayern may be willing to put the Pole up for sale. It sustains that the Munich club wants to extend its contract, which ends in June 2023, by one only year.
“With the contract coming to an end, there is a chance that all parties could hope for a mutually beneficial agreement,” the Spanish newspaper stressed.
According to “Sport”, the management of FC Barcelona has no doubts about Lewandowski’s still high physical form and would even be willing to sign a three-year contract with the Polish player. The newspaper said that the duration of the contract was proposed by the footballer himself.
The daily established that the first step in Lewandowski’s transfer to Barcelona was made by the player’s agent Pini Zahavi in January. He was also expected to target France’s PSG, but the Paris club did not join the negotiations.
The newspaper claims that Lewandowski, who has received financially better offers from Real Madrid and Manchester City, is more interested in a transfer to FC Barcelona.
