“Hey, hey, Rise Up.” Pink Floyd supports Ukraine and released the first new music in decades [VIDEO]

One of the most famous rock bands in the world, Pink Floyd, recorded the song “Hey, Hey, Rise Up” and dedicated it to Ukraine. The song, which was uploaded to YouTube on Thursday (April 7), includes parts of a well-known Ukrainian patriotic song.

The band officially retired in 2014 after almost 50 years in the music scene. However, in the face of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the group decided to release another song in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Boombox.

In a music video recorded in Kyiv, Khlyvnyuk plays parts of the well-known Ukrainian patriotic song written in 1914 in honour of the Sich Riflemen, an armed group that fought within the Austro-Hungarian Empire during the First World War.

The video “Hey, Hey, Rise Up” reached more than 1 million YouTube views within 13 hours.
