Russia has expelled 45 Polish diplomats. “This is the answer to our country’s decision two weeks ago”

Moscow has decided to expel 45 Polish diplomats from Russia – Polish TV correspondent Tomasz Jędruchów informed. The Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported this. This is confirmed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Łukasz Jasina.

Russia sacked 45 Polish diplomatic and consular staff and reported the portal tvp.info after the IAR (the Polish Radio Press Agency – editor’s note). Diplomats are to leave Russia by 13 April.

Previously, the Polish Ambassador to Moscow, Krzysztof Krajewski, had been summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There he was informed about the expulsion of Polish diplomatic and consular staff.

“The Foreign Ministry sees Russia’s decision as a reaction to our country’s decision two weeks ago. At that time, 45 diplomats were expelled from Poland who violated Polish law and the norms of the Vienna Convention,” spokeperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Łukasz Jasina reports.

Before the expulsion of the diplomats from Poland, the services reported that Russian intelligence officers abused diplomatic status for their intelligence activities in violation of Polish law and the provisions of the Vienna Convention. The request for immediate deportation was granted.
