The Russians robbed a lab in Chernobyl

According to independent Radio Svoboda, Russian soldiers occupying the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant took radioactive material from the laboratories.

The Russian military has taken radioactive material from the laboratories of Chernobyl, reports Radio Svoboda on Sunday, citing the Ukrainian state service, which manages the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The location of the stolen material is unknown. It was not ruled out that they were disposed of in the exclusion zone or taken away by the Russians “as souvenirs.” The Agency considers the second scenario to be “more likely.”

“If you carry such a souvenir with you for two weeks, radiation burns and the onset of radiation sickness and irreversible processes in the body are guaranteed,” was pointed out.

According to this Ukrainian national authority, the effects of stolen and damaged material are comparable to 700 kg of radioactive waste. Computers and laboratory equipment were also stolen.
