Poland chosen as the official co-host of 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship

The World Cup 2022 returns to our country after eight years since our team won the championship. The official information was announced at the seat of the Polish Olympic Committee by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Poland will host 2 matches of the 1/8 finals, 2 quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals, and the game for 3rd place.

Poland’s men’s national volleyball team will defend the title of the world champions. They won gold medals at the last two World Cup tournaments in 2014 and 2018.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) deprived Russia of the right to organize this year’s championship because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Poles love volleyball. We are two-time world champions. We want to share a piece of very positive information. Our plan, however, is related to dramatic events in Ukraine. Russia was supposed to be the host of the World Cup 2022. We protested against this from the beginning. I want to thank the Minister of Sport and the President of PZPS. They take care of sports spirit and focused on what’s important for people. It cannot be that we bury our heads in the sand. We proposed to host the championship in Poland. We won this race. We have so much work to do and the time is very limited. We invited our friend Slovenia to join us in this venture,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the PKOL press conference.

Together with the Netherlands, Poland is also a co-host of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship which starts in 134 days.

    According to

Poland and Croatia will be the first teams to take to the courts of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship. The two teams will get Netherlands-Poland 2022 underway in the tournament opener, set to begin at 18:00 local time on Friday, September 23 in the Dutch city of Arnhem.
