The Polish army to receive PIORUN anti-aircraft that proves successful during the war in Ukraine

“A moment ago, I approved an agreement on acquiring 3500 missiles and 600 launch mechanisms of the PIORUN anti-aircraft set for the Polish Army equipment. We are consistently strengthening the Polish Army in order to deter an aggressor. So that the authorities of the Kremlin, the evil empire, which is being recreated before our eyes, would not dare to attack Poland,” said Mariusz Blaszczak, the Minister of National Defence, at a press conference.

“A moment ago, I approved an agreement concerning the acquisition of 3500 missiles and 600 launch mechanisms of the PIORUN anti-aircraft set for the Polish Army equipment. We are aware of the challenges facing Poland,” informed the head of the Ministry of Defense at the conference.

The minister stressed that the Polish government “has been taught lessons from the war that is taking place across our border”.

“We are equipping the Polish military with modern equipment. An example of such modern military equipment is the PIORUN anti-aircraft set. It is a product of the Polish technical concept. A weapon that was produced in our country and which was tested during the war in Ukraine,” Blaszczak stressed.

The politician stressed that Poland had given the PIORUN kits to the Ukrainians even before the outbreak of the war. “Ukrainians using these sets are effectively defending themselves against the Russian invasion,” – he said.

The head of the Ministry of Defense announced that the PIORUN sets will be delivered to the soldiers of the Polish Army later this year.

“We are consistently strengthening the Polish Army so as to deter the aggressor. So that the authorities of the Kremlin, the evil empire, which is being recreated before our eyes, do not dare to attack Poland, to attack NATO countries,” Blaszczak stated.

Mariusz Blaszczak also recalled Poland’s high defence spending.

“Poland spends over 2% of GDP on defence. We are in the 3rd position in NATO. This is over 2.3% of GDP spent on defence last year. This year, the amounts will be even higher. If we add funds coming from the newly launched fund for the support of the armed forces, these expenses will be even higher. This is an investment in the security of Poland and the entire eastern flank of NATO,” he said.

According to information provided by MoD, the Polish Army is to receive a larger number of PIORUN sets. The first of them will be delivered to soldiers still this year. The deliveries will continue in the following years.
