A 19-year-old Pole in the NBA! [VIDEO]

Jeremy Sochan was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the ninth overall pick in the NBA Draft. The 19-year-old from Baylor University will be the fourth basketball player representing Poland to play in the American-Canadian competition.

19-year-old Sochan, son of former Polonia Warszawa basketball player Aneta Sochan and an American, is the first Pole selected with such a high number, already in the first round of the NBA draft.

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have selected forward Jeremy Sochan with the ninth overall pick along with guard Malaki Branham with the 20th overall pick and guard Blake Wesley with the 25th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. (…) Sochan, 6-9/230, is the highest draft pick by the Spurs since they selected Tim Duncan with the first overall pick in 1997 NBA Draft,” NBA informs

The second Polish basketball player in this year’s draftee was 21-year-old Aleksander Balcerowski (CB Gran Canaria), but he was not selected for the league.

Sochan is the fourth Pole to get a chance to perform in the NBA league – after Cezary Trybański (2003), Maciej Lampe (2003) and Marcin Gortat (2005). What is interesting, only Sochan was selected in the first round and, what is more, with such a high number.
