Paweł Fajdek won the hammer throw competition at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. The Polish representative triumphed with 81.98m. The silver medal went to Wojciech Nowicki, who achieved 81.03m in his best attempt. Norway’s Eivind Henriksen was third.

Fajdek came out on top in the third round when he threw the hammer 81.98m. At the halfway point of the competition, Nowicki was second with 81.03m in his second attempt. The Poles failed to improve their results in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds.
The bronze medal went to Norway’s Eivind Henriksen, who threw the hammer 80.87m in his best attempt. The fourth was Frenchman Quentin Bigot with 80.24m. Fifth place went to Hungary’s Bence Halasz, who reached 80.15m.
Fajdek became World Champion for the fifth time in a row. The Polish record holder also triumphed in Moscow (2013), Beijing (2015), London (2017) and Doha (2019).
The Poles have already won three medals in the world championships in Eugene: a gold and two silver.
