    Poland’s Katarzyna Zdziebło breaks the national record and wins the silver medal!

    Katarzyna Zdziebło has won her second silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene! The Pole performed sensationally in the 35 km walk and was second. The gold was won by Kimberly Garcia Leon and third place went to Shijie Qieyang. The podium was the same in the 20 km walk. At the same time, our representative improved her national record by almost 10 minutes!

     

    It was the 35 km distance in the sport walk that was to be Katarzyna Zdziebło’s crowning event at the World Championships in Eugene. After the sensational silver medal won by the Pole last Friday at the 20 km race.

    Around the 20th kilometre, the Peruvian representative decided to attack and broke away from Zdziebło. The attack turned out to be effective – Leon increased her lead with time and set off for her second gold at the Athletics World Championships in Eugene.

     

    The Pole tried to chase her rival, but with 5km remaining to the finish line, she focused on defending her second position. She did it! Thus, Katarzyna Zdziebło became a two-time World Championships silver medallist in athletics!

     

    For Poland, this is the fourth medal at the World Championships in Eugene – in addition to Katarzyna Zdziebło’s two silver medals, the achievements of the White-Red are Paweł Fajdek’s gold and Wojciech Nowicki’s silver in the hammer throw.
