Poland – the country of sumo power!

Polish representatives in sumo won 25 medals – two gold, six silver and 17 bronze – at the European Senior Championships in Krotoszyn. This is an excellent sign ahead of the European Games.

The European Champion in the 65 kg individual and team event was the athlete of the local club, Rozum Athletic Association, Aleksandra Rozum. The team was also made up of Wioleta Kielar, Zuzanna Krystek and Monika Skiba.

In the under-23 competitors, the Poles won 18 medals – 2 gold, 5 silver and 11 bronze. Meanwhile, among sumo competitors under 21 years of age, the white and red teams won 17 medals – 5 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze.

The results of Polish athletes are an excellent forecast ahead of next year’s European Games. Sumo will be making its debut at the event. The wrestlers will compete in the hall in Kluczy, near Olkusz. This is because not all competitions will be held in Kraków.
