A great day for Polish sport! Iga Świątek won a Grand Slam tournament for the third time in her career. In the US Open final, she defeated Ons Jabeur 6:2, 7:6 (7:5). There was no end to the Polish player’s joy on Arthur Ashe’s court!
The encounter started in a dreamlike fashion for the Pole. In the first three games, Jabeur won just two balls – and both on the service of the world’s number one racquet. The dominance was unquestionable and fans began to wonder if a rout was about to happen. After a short break, it was the Tunisian who took the initiative and won her serve, then broke Swiatek to the delight of the fans, who had prepared special outfits from the US Open finalist’s hometown for the match.
Their joy, however, was momentary. Instead of 3:3, it became 4:2, as the Pole’s serve gave Jabeur barely one ball to win. Then, Swiatek finished off two long exchanges with perfectly sent balls into the very corner of the court and was already leading 5:2. Jabeur went out like at the beginning of the match, and that had to end in a lost set. It lasted barely half an hour. And Swiatek was referring to her incredible results in the final matches.

The winner will receive $ 2.6 mln, while the defeated will receive half this amount. The final result will see Swiatek consolidate her lead in the women’s tennis standings, with Jabeur moving up to the second place.
This win is the third Grand Slam event of her career. She won the French Open in Paris in 2020 and 2022.
