Maja Chwalińska is making history at Roland Garros. The Polish tennis player, who began her French Open campaign in the qualifying rounds, has reached the tournament’s grand final after defeating Russia’s Diana Shnaider.
“This feels like a dream. I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say. I’m just happy,” Chwalińska said immediately after the match.

After three weeks of battling some of the world’s best tennis players, Chwalińska admitted that she is not feeling at her best physically or mentally.
“I won’t lie, but at the same time I have no reason to complain,” said the Pole, who fought her way into the main draw through qualifying.
Chwalińska added that for now she simply wants to enjoy the moment and promised to give everything she has in the Roland Garros final.
The Polish player will face another Russian, Mirra Andreeva, in Saturday’s French Open title match. The 19-year-old Russian advanced to the final on Thursday afternoon by defeating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk 6-1, 6-3.
