Polish president discusses security and energy with UK PM Truss

Andrzej Duda, Poland’s president, said he had discussed energy and a “wide range” of security issues during a meeting with Liz Truss, the new British prime minister, in London on Sunday.

The president was in the British capital for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and was among five leaders to meet Truss.

“It was a very good conversation, concerning security issues, the building of a security zone, the security of Poland, our common support that we’re giving together with Great Britain to… Ukraine, our cooperation with the United States, also our cooperation in the field of supporting the Baltic states,” Duda said after meeting Truss.

The president said he had discussed many aspects of security with the British prime minister. “Direct military, as well as trilateral Poland-Ukraine-Great Britain cooperation,” Duda explained.

He also said the two had discussed issues related to energy markets.

In further comments, Duda described the late queen as “a very warm person who emanated external peace, an extremely cultured person and very tactful.” The president met Elizabeth II during a 2019 Nato summit in London.
