PiS Questions KO: What Happened to the Tax-Free Allowance?

On March 11, 2025, the PiS MPs Zbigniew Kuźmiuk and Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, during a press conference, asked KO what will happen with the tax‐free allowance in the amount of 60,000 PLN, which was the promise of the platform.

Kuźmiuk emphasized that it was the flagship proposal of the Platform. The former leader of PO repeatedly raised this topic during meetings with voters, announcing that this solution would be implemented within the first 100 days of government. That did not happen. Four months of government have passed and there is no political will to implement this solution.

He also reminded that the PiS club has already twice submitted draft laws regarding the introduction of this tax‐free allowance of 60,000 PLN.
The first proposals were rejected after being referred to a committee. They were repeated.

He added that the PiS proposal has been frozen in the public finance committee since May 2024, and that a newer proposal from the Confederation also ended up in that committee. In the speaker’s opinion, the ruling party does not intend to fulfill this postulate, and Minister Domański is evasive, saying that consultations and calculations are being carried out.

He also pointed out that there is a budgetary‐structural plan which Donald Tusk’s government sent to Brussels in connection with the excessive deficit procedure, from which it follows that until 2028 this government does not foresee the introduction of a tax‐free allowance due to the difficult situation of public finances.

Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk recalled the tax proposals of Karol Nawrocki contained in “Plan 21”.
He stated that Nawrocki’s tax proposals are comprehensive. They contain not only that which the Platform did not implement, but also elements that the United Right government has begun to implement, and Dr. Nawrocki, as a future president, would like to expand these solutions.
