Andrzej Bargiel has announced that he has begun his summit attack on Mount Everest – the highest mountain on earth. The Pole wants to climb the summit and then ski down the mountain as the first man in history without the use of supplemental oxygen.
If the weather forecast remains unchanged and the weather window forecast for Thursday, Friday and Saturday hold, the summit and ski descent without supplementary oxygen is scheduled for one of these days.
“We are just about to set off up the mountain. It is 4:00 a.m. We are going to camp 2 today, hopefully, tomorrow to camp 4 and the day after tomorrow to the summit. Keep your fingers crossed very strongly. Here we’ve been acclimatising a lot over the last days, we’ve spent a lot of time getting ready for this trip, so I think everything is working. We feel good, if we have a bit of luck, it will all come together. Keep your fingers crossed and see you in Poland,” Bargiel said in a video posted on Twitter.
It’s time for a summit attack! ️Today at 4:00 am local time we set off from the base camp to camp 2. Keep your fingers crossed!
