On September 28, the XIV NNW 2022 International Film Festival competition in Gdynia started. This great film festival shows themes from modern history in over 100 films whose common feature is describing the search for universal paths to freedom. The festival will last until October 1.
The NNW Festival is a unique event on the film map of Europe addressed to artists and all communities that are interested in history. This is a place where not only can you watch history on the screen but also discuss films and history, take part in special events and meet those who attended to crucial historical events. Every year, during the four festival days, around a 100 film productions are presented – of world, European and Polish cinematography. The Festival presents films shows different paths to freedom of nations and individual freedom of every human being. The NNW Festival also includes industry events such as Master Classes, Pitching Forum, Case Study and Q&A sessions.The program of the Festival in Gdynia is complemented by rich offers of special events such as concerts, open-air shows, theater performances, exhibitions, discussion panels, book promotions and meeting with heroes the fight for freedom and independence.
As every year, the festival is a meeting of the film community who gather to exploit the main topic of the event related to not only the latest history but also real stories about brave people and their search for broadly understood freedom. In this year, guests from all over the world came to Gdynia for four special festival days to see the competition. There are representatives of countries such as the United States, Japan, Albania, Norway, Georgia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, Italy, France, Belgium, Slovakia, Germany , Iran, UK, Poland and Ukraine.
At the inaugural gala on September 28 at the Gdynia Film Center, the members of the festival jury were presented and the winners of this year’s NNW International Film Festival award entitled “Door to freedom” were announced. The list of laureates includes: Mr Przemysław Miśkiewicz, Mr Christopher O’Neil, PKP Intercity, Mr Jan Nebesio, Mrs and Mr Kaszlej, Mrs Regina Awtoniuk, and Mr Marek Macutkiewicz.
