    The European Games' flag handed over to Poland

    In the ancient Greek city of Olympia, where the ancient Olympic Games were held, a ceremony was held on Friday to hand over the flag of the European Games to the Polish delegation. This symbolic gesture means that Krakow and Malopolska Voivodeship have officially become the organisers of the Third European Games, which will be accompanied by the slogan: “We are unity.”

    At Friday’s ceremony, the President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Spyros Capralos, handed over the flag of the European Games to the Polish delegation, which included the Secretary of State at the Secretary of State Ministry of State Assets Jan Kanthak, Secretary of State Ministry of Sport and Tourism Arkadiusz Czartoryski and the Marshal of the Malopolska Region Witold Kozlowski. They were accompanied by the Chair of the EOC 3rd European Games Coordination Commission and EOC Executive Committee member Hasan Arat, the President of the Polish Olympic Committee and EOC Executive Committee member Andrzej Kraśnicki and the President of the Organising Committee of the European Games 2023, Marcin Nowak. 

     

    The event started with a speech by President Spyros Capralos and then the official handing over of the flag took place. It was received from the hands of the President of the EOC by Witold Kozłowski, Marshal of the Małopolska Region. The ceremony was accompanied by the music of Frederic Chopin.

     

    The European Games Krakow Małopolska will take place from June 21 to July 2 2023, with around 8,000 athletes competing in almost 30 disciplines. Organising Committee will be supported by around 8,000 volunteers.
