    Polish President holds a telephone conversation with Iranian counterpart on drone use in Ukraine

    Poland’s president has made the government’s position “very clear” to his Iranian counterpart on Iran’s sale of drones to Russia, PAP has transmitted according to its source of information.

    Andrzej Duda spoke to Ebrahim Raisi by telephone on Wednesday and the two heads of state discussed bilateral issues and the “current international situation,” the President’s Office said.

     

    According to information acquired by PAP, during the conversation, President Duda related to his Iranian counterpart Poland’s “very clear position” on Iran’s reported sales of drones to Russia.

     

    “Poland intends to very actively counteract all weapons purchases by Russia,” a source at the President’s Office told PAP.

     

    Just how Poland intends to “counteract” the purchases, and what exactly is the government’s “position” were not elaborated on.

     

    The Ukrainian authorities have said Kyiv has been attacked by Russian forces using Iranian ‘kamikaze drones.’ The Iranian government denied reports of providing Russia with weaponry.

     

    Citing anonymous diplomatic sources, the Reuters news agency has reported that the USA, UK and France planned to raise the issue of Russia’s reported use of Iranian drones in Ukraine at a closed session of the UN Security Council on Wednesday.
