PGE Group has chosen the seaport in Ustka as a command centre for its offshore investments. In 2026, an operations and service base for offshore wind farms and an Offshore Wind Energy Competence Centre will be established in Ustka. The venture by PGE will provide the development of the entire region and workplaces for high-class specialists.
Wind farms in the Baltic Sea are the future of the Polish energy industry. They will soon become the basis of Poland’s energy security. For their proper functioning, constant monitoring and maintenance are necessary. This requires a well-located operations and service base. Therefore, PGE has set its sights on Ustka.
“The decision to establish our future operations and maintenance base in Ustka is an important step in the PGE Group’s offshore wind energy projects. Our investment will not only change the face of the port. We are convinced that it will also be an impulse to the development of the entire region and the creation of new jobs,” says Wojciech Dąbrowski, CEO of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
The seaport in Ustka has good navigational and technical conditions, as well as adequate depth of both the approach and the port channel. As a result, service vessels will be able to sail from the port to the area of offshore wind farms without obstacles. Also, in Ustka’s favour is the fact that it is a well-connected city with accommodation facilities and is open to participating in the construction of a new segment of the Polish economy – offshore wind energy.

The Offshore Wind Energy Competence Centre will also be established at the Ustka seaport. In it, future specialists will acquire licenses and competencies to work on infrastructure maintenance and offshore wind power development. The Competence Center will also test and implement new innovative technologies related to offshore wind energy.

According to the schedule, the first construction work will begin in 2024, and the service centre will begin operations in 2026.

“This is one of the milestones in the city’s development. Offshore wind farms are an industry that has a chance to develop dynamically for years to come. I feel great satisfaction that Ustka will have a part in it. I’m counting on the development of services and new year-round jobs, but I’m also extremely pleased that the degraded port area in our harbour will change its face. The Competence Center being built next to the service base is an honour for us. I keep my fingers firmly crossed for the PGE Group’s investment plans,” Jacek Maniszewski, Mayor of Ustka, says.
PGE Group is currently developing three offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea. Two of them are the Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 offshore wind farms, which comprise the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm with a total capacity of 2.5 GW. The first electricity from these farms will flow to Polish households as early as 2026.
In parallel, PGE is preparing for the construction of a third project – the Baltica 1 offshore power plant with a capacity of about 0.9 GW, which will start producing power after 2030. PGE Group’s strategic goal is to achieve at least 6.5 GW of installed capacity using this technology by 2040.
