Iga Swiatek won against French tennis player Caroline Garcia (6) 6:3, 6:2 in her second group match at the WTA Finals tournament in Fort Worth, USA. The encounter lasted just one hour and 23 minutes. The Pole is one step away from advancing to the semifinals of the tournament.

On Tuesday, Swiatek defeated Kasatkina 6:2, 6:3, while she faced Garcia for the second time this year. The world-ranking leader paid the Frenchwoman back after the July defeat in Warsaw. Then Garcia won 6:1, 1:6, and 6:4.
The first six games of Friday’s match were full of dynamics. With the score at 1:1, Garcia broke Swiatek, but the latter retaliated a moment later. After a little over 30 minutes of play, Iga took the initiative. From 3:3 she won three consecutive games and won the first set.

Swiatek started the second set perfectly. However, the key situation took place in the next game. The 21-year-old Pole was already losing at 0:40, but she defended three break points and increased her lead. After that, Garcia hardly threatened her anymore. Swiatek broke her again in the seventh game, and a few minutes later closed the match using the first match ball.
