Tensions in the Middle East began to increase after the assassination of Sulejmani

After one of the most powerful people in Iran, General Kasem Sulejmani, was killed in Friday’s American rocket attack, tensions in the Middle East started to grow very sharply. Today, the Iraqi parliament has demanded the expulsion of coalition forces stationed in that country, including Poland.

The American military base located in Balad has been attacked on Saturday. At the same time, the US Embassy has been attacked 80 km away from Balad – in the capital of Iraq – Baghdad. 5 people have been wounded. There is an assumption that the pro-Iranian Popular Mobilization Forces are responsible for the attack. US President Donald Trump warned Iran against the attack on the United States on Twitter.

By posting another Tweet, Donald Trump reminded that the United States spent 2 trillion dollars on military equipment and that the United States will use it if they have to. After one of the most powerful people in Iran, General Kasem Sulejmani, was killed in Friday’s American rocket attack, tensions in the Middle East started to grow rapidly. Today, during an extraordinary session dedicated to General Sulejmani, members of the Iranian parliament chanted “Death to America!”

”Mr. Trump! You’ve committed a huge crime. Your name will be noted down next to the crimes of the United States from August 19th, 1953 and other United States’ crimes, for example the shooting down of the Iranian passenger plane. The people of the United States and its parliament should learn that their president’s claims are just lies behind this terrorist crime. If he has evidence, let’s publish it. The brutal action of the US president is an armed act of terrorism. You should know that this action will bring you painful consequences. You’d better pack up and run away from the region before anything happens”- says Ali Larijani, Head of the Parliament of Iran.

Yesterday, leftist anti-war demonstrators took to the streets of US cities to condemn the American attack. An actress and activist, Jane Fonda participated in a protest held in front of the White House and Trump International Hotel.

Protests were also held in Chicago, Denver, Atlanta and New York. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people took part in General Sulejmani’s funeral ceremony.

”This cowardly act committed by American drones is a violation of the sovereignty of Iraq. The air attack was directed at one of the commanders of the People’s Mobilization Forces, who played a great role in the war against the terrorist Islamic State”- says Muhand Al-Yasiri.

General Sulejmani’s body was moved to the holy town of Mashhad. Thousands of mourners marched through the streets with portraits of Sulejmani in their hands. Tomorrow, General Sulejmani’s body is going to be moved to Teheran and then to his hometown Herman, where his funeral is due to take place on Tuesday.
