At the request of the attorney’s office, the Kluczbork court applied pre-trial detention to the organiser of the “contest” in drinking alcohol. As a result, a 37-year-old woman died. As the Police Headquarters in Opole informed on Wednesday, the “competition” was recorded by other participants with their phones.
The incident took place on 18 June in one of the villages in the Kluczbork district. A group of men aged 19-22 organised an “alcohol drinking contest” at the home of a 37-year-old woman, which involved the hostess drinking several bottles of wine in a very short time.
At some point, the woman lost consciousness. The participants of the meeting left her unconscious in the house without giving any assistance. A few hours later, the dead woman was found lying on the floor by her partner.
As a result of the investigation, police officers obtained evidence which led to the arrest of six men. Two of them were charged with manslaughter, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison. To one of them, the court applied for a three-month arrest.
The other four are suspected of failing to render assistance and exposing the victim to the risk of losing life or health, for which the penal code provides for up to 3 years imprisonment.
