'A time of change is coming in Europe'

“Italians themselves know best what is good for them, and no one has the right to question their choices,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed today. “Personally, I am pleased and congratulate Giorgia Meloni on that victory. It seems that the time for change is coming in Europe,” the Prime Minister pointed out.

Giorgia Meloni is the leader of the Italian Brothers party, which won the Italian parliamentary elections last Sunday.

“I personally welcome and congratulate Giorgia Meloni on that victory. It seems that a time of change is coming in Europe. Some might say that this enthusiasm in the ranks of the Polish right is due to the ideological proximity of the Italian right, which won the elections. This is of course true, but regardless of the outcome of the elections, the Polish government would be as willing to cooperate with the new Italian government as it is now. The reason is simple – we respect the sovereign decisions of nations,” the Prime Minister stressed in a podcast posted on Facebook, referring to the outcome of the Italian elections in which the centre-right won.

According to him, Italians themselves know best what is good for them. “And no one has the right to question their choices. This is a base of democracy,” he assessed.

“The Italian elections would have been a normal democratic act, well they would have been, because it happened otherwise, as for several weeks now there has been a growing campaign across Europe about the alleged triumph of far-right forces. Some even define these forces with the epithet fascist,” the Prime Minister said.

According to him, “this propaganda is so effective that it must have nevertheless confused even the head of the European Commission.” “How else can one interpret these outrageous words of (EC – ed.) President Ursula von der Leyen?” the head of government pointed out.
