The Pentagon has said that it cannot corroborate the information alleging that two Russian missiles have struck a location inside Poland near the Ukraine border, the Pentagon spokesman has told reporters.
General Patrick Ryder told a news briefing on Tuesday that the Pentagon did not have any information at this time to confirm those reports.
He made the comment in connection with an AP report in which it quoted a senior U.S. intelligence official as saying that Russian missiles crossed into Poland, killing two people.
Ryder added that the reports were being considered very seriously and stated that the US had clearly declared that it would defend every inch of the Nato territory. He refused, however, to speak about any possible response.
Meanwhile, the Polish Government Information centre announced that the government would meet at 9:00 p.m.
