Has the Ukrainian counter-offensive begun? Observers are puzzled

The Russian military says it has repelled a Ukrainian offensive in the Donetsk region. Six mechanised and two tank battalions went on the offensive. The Russians speak of significant losses suffered by Ukraine in equipment and men although there has been nothing from Ukrainian sources.
