The Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) announced that the registration for speakers at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) 2024 conference in Katowice is open until the end of January. Scheduled for June, ESOF 2024 is a key event during the celebrations of the European City of Science Katowice 2024.
Conference Highlights:
ESOF is Europe’s largest interdisciplinary debate on scientific culture, research, and innovation, conducted for and with the society. The event, occurring every two years, is hosted by the city awarded the title of the European City of Science.
ESOF 2024 Themes:
Themed “Life Changes Science,” the conference, from June 12 to 15 at the International Congress Center in Katowice, will cover six thematic areas, including energy transformation, sustainable environment, cultural identity, scientific excellence transformations, healthy society, and digital transformation.
Call for Speakers:
The MNiSW emphasized that speaker applications are accepted until the end of January, encouraging active participation in this prestigious conference.
Purpose and Perspective:
ESOF 2024, organized by the Academic Consortium – Katowice City of Science, aims to bridge the gap between science and society. The conference is seen as a scientific event with a popular appeal, addressing the role of science in shaping the future.
European City of Science 2024:
Inspired by the success of the Silesian Science Festival, Katowice aspires to be the European City of Science. The consortium, comprising seven universities, worked collectively to secure the title for the first time in Central-Eastern Europe.
In addition to the conference, EMNK 2024 features diverse programs such as 50 Weeks in the City of Science, City–Region–Academia, Young City of Science program, Teachers-Teachers educational program, and special events.
Upcoming Events:
The upcoming weeks include the “Food Week” and various events organized by consortium universities. EMNK 2024 will also host EU Talent Fair, European Science in the City Festival, and European science competitions.
