The Medical Council at Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki recommended on Wednesday that teachers should be vaccinated with AstraZeneca. But what if the teacher’s age is over 60 and this vaccine is not recommended for it? The Council then recommends using other preparations – Pfizer or Moderna.
“The Medical Council – in the current epidemiological situation and the availability of vaccines – recommends, due to the necessity of protection in connection with the necessary opening of schools, accelerating vaccination in the group of teachers and starting vaccinations with the newly registered in the EU vaccine AstraZeneca in people qualified in the National Vaccine Program to group Ic,” that is the position of the Council.
“Due to the presented results of clinical trials on the AstraZeneca vaccine, the Medical Council recommends its use in people up to 60 years of age,” said representatives of the Council.
However, due to the lack of research in the elderly group, it recommends transferring active teachers of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools over 60 years of age to the “Ia” group and vaccination with registered vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna.
