Partner of Russian Spy Allegedly Involved in Forceful Takeover of Public Media? “Magda Was with Us.”

Magdalena Chodownik may have participated in the forceful takeover of public media that occurred at the end of December last year, according to a statement by former Polish Television employee Tomasz Marzec. Chodownik was detained in 2022 alongside Russian agent Paweł Rubcow and was charged with aiding espionage.

At the end of December, the new government forcefully took over public media. “Strongmen” aligned with Donald Tusk entered the headquarters of Polish Television (TVP) and the Polish Press Agency (PAP). As revealed by the portal Niezalezna.pl, these actions were coordinated through a WhatsApp group named “Wejście” (“Entrance”).

This group included individuals connected to media, politics, and even the judiciary. Among its members were the unlawfully appointed president of PAP, Marek Błoński, lawyer and co-founder of the “Free Courts” initiative Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram, and the former chief of staff to Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, later the neo-president of Polish Radio, Paweł Majcher.

However, it has now come to light that the partner of a Russian spy may have been involved in the takeover of Polish public media.

    “Magda Was with Us.”

This information stems from a post by Tomasz Marzec, a former reporter for the forcefully taken-over TVP and a former TVN employee.

“This is exactly why I’m fighting to uncover who was behind ‘Group Wejście’. Magda was with us 🙂 That’s all. I left :)” he wrote.

His post is believed to refer to Magdalena Chodownik, a Polish journalist detained in 2022 along with Russian spy Paweł Rubcow. The information was first revealed by TV Republika journalist Cezary Gmyz. Chodownik was charged with aiding espionage, but the court did not authorize her arrest.

Chodownik was reportedly involved with “migrant individuals.” These are the “achievements” of Rubcow’s partner.

Earlier, the portal frontstory.pl reported that a journalist was detained alongside a GRU agent, although her name was not disclosed. The article discussed the benefits Rubcow gained from this relationship. “Thanks to the relationship with her, he had access to various contacts, environments, he went for beers with correspondents, built relationships, gained trust,” said one of the sources.

Marzec’s post has since been removed from the internet, but netizens managed to capture it. The revelation has sparked widespread online discussions. “Could the Russians have been involved in the forceful takeover of public institutions?” one commenter asked
