Will the PKW Scrutinize Trzaskowski’s “Non-Political” Campus?

During the inauguration of Campus Polska Przyszłości, Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski emphatically stated that the event was “non-political” and “non-partisan.” Trzaskowski’s declaration came just before the National Electoral Commission (PKW) was set to make a decision regarding the funding of the largest opposition party, PiS. This statement was intended to distance the Campus from any accusations of political campaigning, a serious issue during an election year.

    The Reality Unveiled

However, sharp-eyed internet users quickly challenged Trzaskowski’s claims. They pointed out that during the 2023 event, prominent political figures, like Tomasz Grodzki, openly discussed electoral strategies. Grodzki’s speech, which encouraged support for specific opposition candidates, blatantly contradicted Trzaskowski’s assertions of the event being apolitical. This led to a flurry of online posts highlighting various instances of political advocacy during the Campus.

One of the most vocal critics, political commentator Maks Hübner, compiled and shared clips of these political activities on social media, sarcastically dedicating them to the PKW. This raised the question of whether the Commission will investigate these apparent violations of electoral neutrality, especially given the scrutiny PiS has faced for similar accusations.
