The scandalous decision by the Sejm Presidium is nothing short of harassment against our MPs, wrote Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson Rafał Bochenek on X, responding to the Sejm Presidium’s ruling on Wednesday’s heated incident in the parliamentary chamber.
The decision was announced on Friday by Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Piotr Zgorzelski (TD-PSL). He stated that Jarosław Kaczyński and Iwona Arent, who allegedly provoked the disturbance, received the harshest penalty—losing half of their salary for three months. It was also noted that “51 PiS MPs in the chamber violated the dignity of the house by making baseless accusations against KO MP Roman Giertych.”
The incident refers to a confrontation on the parliamentary podium between Jarosław Kaczyński and Roman Giertych on Wednesday. Following their exchange of words, dozens of MPs suddenly stood up—sparking a full-blown uproar. Speaker Piotr Zgorzelski, who was presiding over the session, called for a 10-minute recess.

The party’s spokesperson weighed in on the decision:
“The scandalous decision by the Sejm Presidium is harassment against our MPs,” Bochenek wrote on X.
“It’s yet another sign of who we’re dealing with… and the defense of R. Giertych and his associates in the context of the late Barbara Skrzypek’s death shows just how pathological this environment truly is. There is zero decency,” the politician added.
