Seaplane crashes into Lake Lednica near Gniezno. Swiss survivors rescued, cause of the crash under investigation.
On September 4th, emergency services responded to reports of a plane crash near Gniezno, where a seaplane crashed into Lake Lednica near Rybitwy. The aircraft, a Cessna seaplane, had two passengers on board, both Swiss nationals. Firefighters rescued the survivors and transported them to shore, where they declined further medical assistance.
Investigations Underway
The cause of the crash remains unknown. Investigators from the State Commission for Aircraft Accident Investigation have arrived at the scene to determine the cause and decide on the recovery of the wreckage. A total of 11 fire brigades and police officers were deployed.
Similar Incident in 2022
This is not the first aviation incident in the region. On March 29, 2022, an Aventura II aircraft crashed into Lake Kłecko, killing the pilot, who had reportedly landed on 13 lakes that day. The wreckage was severely damaged, with the front fuselage, doors, and left float detached.
