The Regional Directorate of State Forests (RDLP) in Radom has announced its annual timber auction, offering 193 cubic meters of premium oak, alder, and larch wood. The timber, sourced from several Świętokrzyskie and Radom forestry districts, is available for viewing at the Motyczno storage yard in the Włoszczowa Forest District until November 29.
Unique Timber Selection Process
Submissions involve a written auction of individual timber lots. Foresters carefully pre-select high-quality trees the year before, focusing on specimens with veneer-worthy characteristics. Each piece is transported to the yard, meticulously measured, and assigned a lot number for buyers to place their bids. This careful process ensures only the best timber reaches the market.
Last year’s auction saw 200 cubic meters sold, with oak being the top choice. Companies from Poland and Romania bid up to 6,868 PLN per cubic meter for a standout oak from the Staszów Forest District. Alder and larch also attracted buyers, with 55 and 10 cubic meters sold, respectively.
