Polish and German police officers are collaborating to ensure safety near the Kostrzyn nad Odrą (Kostrzyn upon the Oder) border crossing. Joint patrols focus on vehicle and driver inspections, utilizing comprehensive database resources from both countries to conduct efficient and thorough checks.
Enhanced Road Safety at the Border
The patrols, stationed both in Poland and Germany, emphasize controlling vehicles crossing the bridge over the Oder River. Officers inspect vehicle conditions, required documents, and passengers. Due to the bridge’s technical limitations, only vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tons are allowed. Heavier vehicles must use alternative border crossings, a rule strictly enforced by the officers.
This collaboration is supported by the Polish-German Centre for Border, Police, and Customs Cooperation in Świecko, which operates 24/7. By sharing information daily, the center ensures smooth coordination and enhances the efficiency of joint operations, a system that has been in place for years.
Polish-German patrols highlight effective international police cooperation. By combining resources and expertise, the officers enhance security and demonstrate the value of united efforts in managing shared borders.
