The victims include two Polish nationals—identified as 47-year-old Marcin Ch. and 52-year-old Sylwia A.—and 67-year-old Portuguese national Nelzon N.R.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred off Arena Gorda Beach in Bavaro, an area on the Punta Cana peninsula known for its high tourist traffic. All three drowned after venturing beyond safety buoys and encountering unusually strong currents and exceptionally high waves. A Russian tourist was also rescued and taken to a hospital.
Search teams located the third Polish victim, identified as Jakub P., approximately 500 meters from where he initially entered the water. Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński told local media that the tragedy was most likely the result of a fatal accident. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drownings.
