Polish students from AGH launch HYPE, the smallest Polish satellite, into orbit on SpaceX’s Falcon 9.
Polish ingenuity has reached new heights as HYPE, the smallest satellite built entirely by students from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, was launched into orbit on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The launch, part of the Transporter-12 mission, took place on Tuesday from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base.
A Historic First for Polish Students
HYPE is a groundbreaking nanosatellite of the PocketQube standard, measuring just 5 x 5 x 5 cm. Designed by AGH’s SatLab team in collaboration with the university’s Space Technology Center, it aims to conduct Earth observations at an altitude of 525 km. Equipped with a mini spectrometer, it will analyze light pollution, volcanic activity, and forest degradation.
Inspiring Future Innovators 🌍🚀
The satellite features a folding camera to display graphics uploaded from Earth, promoting Polish technological achievements. Its mission seeks to inspire the next generation to pursue science and space exploration. Ground-based communication is supported by a new antenna installed at AGH.
