In a striking display of cross-border collaboration, an American soldier stationed at a U.S. military base in Mazury alerted Polish authorities to a medical emergency involving his wife, who resides in Texas.
According to Anna Szypczyńska, a spokesperson for the Pisz police, the incident unfolded a few days ago when the soldier, based at the U.S. base in Bemowo Piski, contacted the Pisz police duty officer. He reported that his wife, who lives alone in Texas and cares for their two young children, was feeling unwell and needed immediate medical attention.
Following the call, the duty officer notified the International Police Cooperation Bureau—an agency operating under the Main Headquarters of the Polish Police. With its assistance, an ambulance was dispatched to the American woman in Texas. It remains unclear exactly how the emergency call was coordinated across the Atlantic or the duration between the initial alert and the dispatch of medical aid.
Authorities have since confirmed that the woman did indeed require urgent care and was admitted to a hospital. Meanwhile, her two small children have been placed in the care of their grandmother.
This incident highlights the effective international cooperation between Polish and American authorities in addressing emergencies, regardless of geographic distances.
