Kuczmierowski Set for Release as Full Bail Amount is Paid

Former head of the Polish Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves (RARS), Michał Kuczmierowski, is expected to be released from custody imminently, according to a statement issued Monday by Westminster Magistrates’ Court. The court has already sent a formal request for his release to Wandsworth Prison, where Kuczmierowski is currently being held.

Earlier, British judicial authorities ruled that Kuczmierowski could be freed on bail divided into two parts: a security deposit of £200,000 and an additional surety of £365,000. While the initial sum was paid relatively quickly, the second surety was only secured on Monday. With the full amount now settled, his release is reportedly just a matter of time.

Kuczmierowski, who served as the head of RARS until last year, was charged in August 2024 with participating in an organized criminal group, failing to fulfill his official duties, and exceeding his powers for financial gain. He was arrested in London in early September, prompting Polish authorities to request his extradition.

A British magistrates’ court is currently considering Poland’s extradition request. As of now, Kuczmierowski is awaiting the outcome of that process, but will be able to await further proceedings outside of custody once formally released on bail.
