Sikorski Strikes Again: Undermining the U.S.-Poland Alliance

Radosław Sikorski, now back as Poland’s Foreign Minister, is at it once more—taking jabs at Poland’s close relationship with the United States. His latest remarks, full of arrogance and disregard for Poland’s biggest ally, make it clear that his views haven’t changed a bit. Instead of strengthening ties, Sikorski seems more interested in cosying up to the European Union while dismissing the strategic importance of the U.S.

The 2014 Leaked Conversation

Remember 2014? Back then, in a leaked conversation, Sikorski called Poland’s alliance with America “worthless” and even “harmful.” He mocked Polish foreign policy, saying Poles were “doing favours” for the Americans and that we were “complete fools” for believing in this partnership. It was disgraceful then, and it’s even worse now that he’s back in a key diplomatic role.

Sikorski’s Latest Attack on U.S.-Poland Relations

Fast forward eleven years and Sikorski’s attitude hasn’t softened. This time, he made his comments on Polsat News for all to hear, once again ridiculing those who value Poland’s transatlantic partnership. “This mix of servility and foolishness towards our great ally humiliates me as a Pole,” he sneered. What’s truly humiliating is having a foreign minister who belittles a relationship that has been crucial for Poland’s security.

Sikorski added that “The United States is our military ally, but we have no constitutional ties with them.” It must be said that this was quite a peculiar way to welcome the new U.S. ambassador to Poland.
