Law and Justice (PiS) Scrutinizes Trzaskowski’s Travels: “Paid Campaigning?”

Law and Justice (PiS) questions Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski’s frequent travels, claiming they served his political agenda rather than the city’s interests. MPs demand full cost transparency.

Frequent Trips Under Fire

Polish opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) has raised concerns over the extensive travels of Warsaw’s Mayor, Rafał Trzaskowski. At a press conference, MP Paweł Jabłoński criticized Trzaskowski’s frequent absences, stating, 250 delegations in the last five years… Warsavians have the right for their mayor to work as promised, not travel the world.” PiS members argue that Trzaskowski’s trips, both domestic and international, often served his political ambitions rather than Warsaw’s interests.

Campaigning on Public Funds?

MP Andrzej Śliwka further questioned the purpose of these trips, suggesting they were linked to Trzaskowski’s political activities. “He campaigned while on delegation. Remember when he danced with women from rural associations? Warsavians paid for that,” he remarked. Śliwka also labeled Trzaskowski’s foreign visits—spanning Dubai, Turkey, Egypt, and Argentina—as mere “vacations” with no benefit to the city. PiS is now demanding full transparency regarding the costs, as Warsaw’s City Hall allegedly refused to disclose them.
