Ukrainian Politician Calls for the Impeachment of the President. Zelenskyy Also Criticized by Republican Senator

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. The discussions in the Oval Office, initially conducted in a relatively positive atmosphere, focused on the prospects for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. However, the meeting ultimately did not result in the signing of an agreement regarding the exploitation of Ukraine’s mineral resources.

Ukrainian MP Alexander Dubinsky assessed the course of the talks between Zelenskyy and Trump as a “diplomatic failure” for the Ukrainian president, describing it as the “final act of the regime’s collapse.” The politician stressed the necessity of convening an extraordinary session of the Ukrainian parliament to initiate impeachment proceedings against Zelensky.

In a published statement, Dubinsky emphasized that, in his view, “Zelenskyy has not only failed in foreign policy—he has led the country to a state where anyone who disagrees with his course faces repression.”

“I appeal to all members of the Ukrainian parliament: stop wasting time, stop waiting! Zelensky is bankrupt. Zelensky is not Ukraine! It is time to put him on trial. If he cannot offer a real way out of the crisis, then it is up to us to make fateful decisions,”

Dubinsky concluded.

Senator Graham’s Statement from the U.S.

Criticism of Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also emerging from the United States. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has stated that the Ukrainian president should step down.

“He must either resign and send someone with whom we can do business, or he must change,”

Graham declared.

The senator, who had previously advocated for supporting Ukraine, expressed his opinion that the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting was a “complete disaster.”

“I have never been more proud of the President. I was very proud of J.D. Vance, standing up for our country (…) What I saw in the Oval Office was disrespectful…,”

Graham remarked.
