President Trump: “I Am Very Committed to Poland”

“Poland has risen to the occasion and done a great job for NATO” – these words from Donald Trump, spoken during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, are not just diplomatic courtesy but a clear signal of recognition for our country’s role.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House, where he was officially welcomed by Donald Trump. The meeting between the two leaders began with a brief statement to the media, during which the U.S. president immediately referenced a key agreement regarding cooperation in the extraction of Ukrainian natural resources.

For President Zelensky, this was not a pleasant conversation. “Either we make a deal, or we walk away” said U.S. President Donald Trump during an argument in the Oval Office. Trump accused Zelensky of “playing with World War III.”You have cards if you play with us. Without us, you have no cards to play” he concluded.

Poland’s Role in NATO

The situation was different with Poland. Donald Trump expressed his commitment to Poland. Responding to a question about allied obligations in NATO, he praised our country for fulfilling its alliance commitments. “I am very committed to Poland. I think Poland has really risen to the occasion and done a great job for NATO. As you know, they paid more than they had to. They are one of the best groups of people I have ever met” said President Trump.

Poland has consistently increased its defense spending over the years, becoming one of the leaders among NATO countries in terms of the percentage of GDP allocated to this purpose. In 2024, our defense spending reached 3.7% of GDP, and in 2025, it is planned to increase this amount to 4.7% of GDP, which corresponds to approximately 186.6 billion PLN.

A Strong Declaration

There is no doubt that President Donald Trump’s remarks about Poland, delivered in such a friendly tone – a spontaneous and extremely strong declaration of standing guard over the security of our country – are the result of his conversation with President Duda during the CPA conference.
