“The borders of Nato moved east in 1999, so 26 years later there should also be a shift of the Nato infrastructure east. For me this is obvious,”
explained President Duda in the interview.
The head of the Polish state also informed that his proposal regarding the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland had been conveyed to Keith Kellogg, the special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump for Ukraine.
This morning, Wojciech Kolarski was asked about this proposal on RMF FM. He emphasized that “Poland’s security is paramount.”
“Security matters must be placed beyond political disputes, and when we talk about the nuclear umbrella extending over Poland, we are precisely speaking about strengthening Poland’s security. That is how the President’s statements to the Financial Times should be understood,”
assessed the presidential minister.
He also highlighted that this issue is not new, as the question of Poland’s participation in Nuclear Sharing has been under discussion for quite some time. It is worth recalling that President Andrzej Duda also addressed this topic in an interview with Editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz, published in Gazeta Polska in the fall of 2022.
“Poland Must Be Safe”
“The President also expressed a positive stance on the concept proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron during an interview with a leading French political journalist last Sunday,”
Kolarski recalled.
“It is crucial that Poland remains safe. This is the most important matter for us today in these turbulent times. Nuclear weapons serve Poland’s security,”
stated the presidential minister.
He added that Poland is a credible partner for the United States and assessed that the country has strong leverage to engage in discussions regarding Nuclear Sharing.
