“So far away, and yet so close …” is the title of the 17th Chopin and his Europe International Music Festival. The inauguration of the event – during which Moniuszko’s “Verbum nobile” will be performed – is today in Warsaw.
This year’s festival includes over 30 concerts: great symphonic music, operas, excellent chamber music, a pinch of jazz, and star recitals at the National Philharmonic, Grand Theater – National Opera, at the Royal Castle, and in St. Cross Basilica – the event organizers announced during the Friday press conference at the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
During the inaugural concert, Stanisław Moniuszko’s “Verbum nobile” will be performed. The Europa Galante Orchestra will be conducted by Fabio Biondi.
“For the first time this work by Moniuszko will be performed on historical instruments, which is a continuation of one of the most important concerts and phonographic projects of the Institute, which includes the performance and recording of operas, songs, and lesser-known works by this composer on CDs,” explained Stanisław Leszczyński, Chopin and his Europe Festival director.
