The court has ruled that Poland will not extradite Volodymyr Z. to Germany, where he is wanted for allegedly blowing up Nord Stream. “You are free,” the judge told the Ukrainian.
The Polish court refused to grant Germany’s request for Volodymyr Z.’s extradition.
In a second ruling, the court lifted the pre-trial detention imposed on the man who had been arrested near Warsaw. “You are free,” the judge addressed him directly.
In his justification, the judge emphasized that the request from the German authorities “does not deserve to be granted.” He reminded that the proceedings were not aimed at determining whether the suspect had committed the act alleged by the German side, but whether such an act could serve as the basis for executing a European Arrest Warrant (ENA).
“The Polish court has no original evidence in this case. The German side, within the framework of the EAW, provided only very general information required in such proceedings concerning the alleged act,” the judge explained.
