President Karol Nawrocki and First Lady Marta Nawrocka began a two-day working visit to the Republic of Türkiye on Tuesday. The main purpose of the trip is to attend the NATO Summit in Ankara, where Allied leaders will discuss the most pressing security challenges. The agenda also includes meetings with foreign leaders and a media appearance by the Polish president.
President Karol Nawrocki’s visit will last two days – July 7 and 8. The centerpiece of the program is participation in the NATO Summit taking place in the Turkish capital. On Tuesday evening, the Polish presidential couple will be officially welcomed by President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex. A formal dinner for heads of state and government attending the Alliance summit is also scheduled.
Talks with Allied Leaders
The most important events are scheduled for Wednesday. Karol Nawrocki will take part in a meeting of the North Atlantic Council attended by NATO heads of state and government. Earlier, he will be officially welcomed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. A traditional family photo of the Alliance’s leaders is also planned.
The schedule also includes a bilateral meeting between the Polish president and Finnish President Alexander Stubb. After the talks conclude, Karol Nawrocki is expected to meet with the media and summarize the outcome of the summit.
Separate Program for the First Lady
During the NATO summit, First Lady Marta Nawrocka will also take part in a separate program. She will meet with Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan before attending a gathering of the spouses of heads of state and government focused on children’s safety in the age of new technologies. Organizers have also announced that the Polish First Lady will deliver remarks during the event.
Security at the Center of the Agenda
The NATO Summit in Ankara is taking place amid ongoing international tensions and the war on Poland’s eastern border. One of the main topics on the leaders’ agenda will be strengthening security and advancing cooperation within NATO.
