A False Post and Text by Yad Vashem on Poland and the Holocaust. “They Deliberately Ignore the Perpetrators’ Responsibility”

“A disgusting lie. They are slandering Poland with crimes – even though Poland did not exist at that time. They deliberately ignore the responsibility of the actual perpetrators – the Germans. Just as they ignore German crimes against Poles,” said PiS MP Paweł Jabłoński, commenting on a post by the World Holocaust Remembrance Center Yad Vashem. The institution cited the history of marking Jews in the ghettos but did not mention at any point who was responsible for the atrocities.

“Poland was the first country in which Jews were forced to wear a distinctive yellow badge in order to isolate them from the surrounding population,” we read on the website of the World Holocaust Remembrance Center Yad Vashem.

The institution recounts the history of marking Jews in the ghettos and the penalties imposed on those who failed to follow the rules. “In each ghetto, the penalties varied and included fines, beatings, imprisonment, deportation to camps, and even execution on the spot,” the text states.

And although the name of our country appears several times, the institution does not utter a single word about the true criminals – the Germans.

Even stronger is the tone of the terse post published on the Yad Vashem profile.

A Deliberate Omission

Among those who reacted to the post was PiS MP Paweł Jabłoński. “A disgusting lie. They are slandering Poland with crimes – even though Poland did not exist at that time. They deliberately ignore the responsibility of the actual perpetrators – the Germans. Just as they ignore German crimes against Poles,” he wrote on X.

“We cannot accept this denialism,” he stressed.

The politician pointed out that Yad Vashem is an official institution of the State of Israel, and that the text “should be followed by an immediate apology and personal consequences for the deniers responsible for falsifying history.”

“Mr. Radosław Sikorski has a chance to prove his effectiveness. This is more difficult than attacking the opposition and the President, but this is precisely what the duties of a Minister of Foreign Affairs entail. Get to work,” he appealed.
